The German Police University (DHPol) is a special higher learning institution with university status supported by the interior ministries and interior senators of the federal and state governments.

In addition to teaching and further training, research is also one of the central tasks of the university. The research activities are mainly carried out within the framework of national and European security research funding lines.

The German Police University (DHPol) has been entrusted with the cooperation with foreign research institutes and institutions as well as the exchange of information on an international level both through the agreement and through supplementary resolutions of the Conference of the Interior Ministers.
